Is it easy for users to achieve their goals?.How will the user know if they’ve been successful?.What are the steps this user will follow?.The UX designer will ask themselves the following questions: ![]() So, if you think about a typical user journey through an eCommerce site, a UX designer will map the route the user takes, from browsing and favoriting items, all the way through to checkout. On the other hand, the UI designer focuses on the visual details and how information is presented. They focus on the big picture, aka the overall site mechanics. UX and UI design are two similar roles, but with a few key differences. So, what’s the difference between a UX designer and a UI designer? Many UI/UX designers have experience coding in CSS, HTML, and JavaScript as well. In addition to a good design eye, they need knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator and the ability to use wireframing software. UI/UX design has a broad purview, including the following: UI designers handle the visual aesthetic or ‘feel’ of the system interfaces we interact with, while UX designers focus on the functional experience it delivers. User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) designers specifically work with interactive products or systems, such as websites, software, and apps. A web designer’s tools of the trade often include Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. That said, many are now learning this skill to set themselves apart from the competition. Web designers usually don’t need to code - a skill often left to front-end web developers. Most - but not all - graphic designers are also web designers because the skill sets overlap, and working in both fields offers more professional opportunities. Web designers are graphic designers who only work with digital assets. This was when the role became blurred with that of a web designer. Suddenly, their range of work encompassed both print and digital media, requiring graphic designers to develop a lot of new skills. When print moved into the digital realm, graphic designers started creating digital assets like logos, websites, and ads. Traditionally, they covered print media, such as brochures, posters, business cards, and banners. Until the advent of the computer, graphic designers worked with paper and ink. The occupation was around before Macs hit the scene, and pretty much everyone knows what they do. Graphic design is the oldest type of design job on the list. So, whether you’re hiring a new team member, choosing a new career, or simply wondering why your designer colleague rolled their eyes when you asked them to make a logo: you’ve come to the right place. You’d be forgiven for feeling confused: all these roles sound slightly similar, and there is overlap between each one. ![]() New design job titles seem to pop up every year. The role of ‘designer’ has evolved drastically over the past 10 to 20 years, and what was once a straightforward job description (‘make things look nice’) has since branched off into several distinct specializations, each with unique skill sets.

Baelog performs the best as he has Splash damage, making him the fastest viking in dispatching minion waves. Pushing: A Pushing Viking should use AAs and Spin to Win! to clear enemy minion waves and use friendly waves as cover when attacking enemy towers. A viking should soak when he has nothing better to do, when an objective is up and your team can capture it, or alternatively poke the enemy team and buy time, in which case you can push if you're careful. Erik is the best viking for this, as he can run away the fastest and collect Regen Globes safely. Soaking: A Soaking Viking should be near a lane, and collect Regeneration Globes. Common tasks are: Soaking, Pushing, Taking Mercenary Camps, Participating in Objectives, Participating in Teamfights, Scouting and Ganking. ![]() However, Shift-Queuing is very hard to master and can lead to a disaster if combined with improper map awareness, so use it very carefully.Ģ) Assigning Tasks: A very simple concept, you want every viking to do a specific task at every given moment. Shift Queuing is simple: hold Shift and issue commands, however to utilize it well you want to make your opponent think you are focusing on a Viking you are not focusing on, stopping in the healing fountain before moving a Viking and having 1 Viking soaking 2 lanes. A successful Boss Steal means you have decent map awareness. To practice this, try to predict where your enemies will be and ambush them in QM. Minimap Awareness: this is a very useful skill overall and is in the Vikings core gameplay. AI and try to collect every Regeneration Globe up until level 10 without dying, you want every Viking to do something at every given moment. Simply press a number between 1 and 3 twice or press Space to lock into your Viking. Some very useful tricks: press A and then left click to move your Viking to a location while AAing everyone in it's range, S will stop the viking, and H will make them stay in place, auto-attacking enemies in range, and you can drag left-click to choose multiple Vikings.Īuto Switching is the most basic thing to do with the Vikings and you will use this a lot in the Laning Phase. Try to walk around with them, position them and attack with them to learn their range, damage and health. All of the Vikings abilities must be unlocked via Talents, but you can end with only your Heroic if you chose non-ability Talents. Then, you should practice the following things: Auto-Switching, (Mini)map Awareness, and Shift-Queuing.īasic Controls: So, you already know right-click is for moving, QWE are abilities and R is the Heroic ability, however the Vikings are a little different: press 1 to control Olaf, 2 is Baelog, 3 is Erik and 4 is all of them. With that said, let's jump right in:ġ) Basic Controls: The very first thing you want to do after purchasing the Vikings (and doing this before is even better) is to go into try mode and look at the Basic Controls. This guide is made of 2 separate parts, one focusing on controlling the vikings mechanically and the other focusing on several strategies with them. I am by no means a pro, I play mostly QM and while I still have the level 40 beta portrait, I play very casually, so don't treat this guide like you would treat a pro's guide. I want to cover the basics of controlling the hero, teach useful basic skills and explaining their role in most situations. ![]() This guide is for the frustrated player trying to learn the basics, and when he tries to ask basic questions he is given a build and nothing of real use for him. If you're searching for a specific build or advanced strategies, then this guide IS NOT FOR YOU. You will get faster firing and likely much better results by tapping the space bar repeatedly rather than holding it down.Introduction: So, The Lost Vikings are very hard to play, let alone master, and it occurred to me most of us are giving builds and general tips, while most players want mechanical advice, so I am here to help. When in doubt, use a bomb wasting a single bomb is better than wasting a single life.Īlso note that holding the space bar is NOT the fastest rate of fire possible. Later in the levels, you should be able to build up a nice stockpile of excess bombs, which, If used at the right time, can save you from the majority of deaths. You may prefer one style over the other, or change between stages based on the type of enemy.Īs mentioned earlier, save bombs for situations where being hit is inevitable. Side missiles are weaker but allow for easier widespread damage, while plasma missiles do more damage, but in a confined area. The primary weapon (either side or plasma missiles) is a matter of personal and situational preference. The less-is-more approach also extends to a minimalist design aesthetic that was instilled in Johansson by her Scandinavian architect father. That three-step regimen, as well as the rest of the line, which includes a rich niacinamide-spiked night cream, a soothing vitamin C eye cream, and a lip treatment, all retail for under $55 and feature hyaluroset, a botanical alternative to moisturizing hyaluronic acid that plumps and smooths fine lines. That shared experience-and the guidance of a product developer with a chemistry background, who educated them on everything from polymers to parabens in accordance with Credo’s exacting clean-ingredient standards-helped finalize their product assortment: The Gentle Micellar Antioxidant Cleanser washes away impurities without stripping the skin, while the Firming Vegan Collagen Prep Serum boosts hydration, and the Nourishing Squalane Daily Moisturizer offers up a quenching drink for parched complexions. “In a way, it sort of accelerated our relationship, because we now had this other kind of intimacy,” Johansson says of how the two women built their brand over Zoom and via FedEx, while homeschooling their children and contending with the fear and uncertainty that has plagued so many of us over the past two years. Johansson took a few introductory calls with Foster Lengyel before they finally sat down to lunch in person-just as New York went into lockdown. (“She always says, ‘If I wasn’t an actor, I would be a dermatologist!’ ” reveals Boyd.) Johansson had taken her pitch for clean, elevated basics at the cross section of drugstore finds, apothecary traditions, and French pharmacy efficacy to “the big guys” (Shiseido, Estée Lauder, et al.) before deciding that to make a product that held up to her own expectations, she’d need to do it from scratch. But being an engaging conversationalist doesn’t necessarily make you a good business partner, acknowledges Foster Lengyel, who was wary of working on yet another celebrity beauty line-until Johansson gave her the hard sell: a skin-care brand built around her own beauty rituals and the success she has had managing the breakouts, the dryness, and the general maladies that come with many hours spent in the makeup chair and in front of the camera. Our biggest complaint is that it must be connected to a battery for the display to work. But it was possible and gave us useful information (including that wherever our short is, it’s not in the charging system). The battery health ripple test requires starting the car and holding the RPM at 2,500 for five seconds, which would be a lot easier with two people. We then tried the cranking and charging system health functions in a Mazda with a flat-plate AC Delco Gold battery. Getting a battery health reading was easy. During several rounds of testing, we noticed that the display gets sluggish in colder temperatures. The opening screen shows a small voltage readout at the bottom, and then you have to select your battery technology, in this case, AGM spiral wound, from the following screen. We hooked up a BT100 Car Battery Tester to one of our Optima Yellow Top test batteries (note: you must connect it directly to the posts), and the display came on immediately. You get both a backlit illuminated 128 x 64 LCD readout and green-yellow-red warning lights. It can perform a standard battery health test (shown), cranking, and ripple charging system test. It works with all major battery technologies: Conventional and enhanced flooded (EFB) AGM flat plate AGM spiral and gel. Topdon’s BT100 is the top-rated product in the category and replaces the former #2 pick AB101 on our list. To learn more about the best car battery testers, refer to our table of contents. Some testers are easier to use than others, while some offer more comprehensive data and other features, such as the ability to test your car’s alternator. Plus, we think they’re fun to use, especially if they have a display, and it’s not hard to learn a little more about things like internal resistance and cranking amps. Just remember that some functions, like cranking, are a lot easier with two people. It’s also a great tool if you’re buying a used car, used battery, or have some lying around your garage. When a good replacement battery can cost hundreds of dollars, it’s a small investment to give you lots of warning if a battery starts to go bad, and gives you a chance to put it on a charger with a repair cycle to buy a few more months, too. Using the best car battery tester, like our Editor’s Pick, can tell you more than just “good or bad.” They can give you a real insight into how your battery charges, cranks your engine, and what it’s internal health is like. You can help make your battery last a lot longer by putting it on a trickle charger if you only use your car a few days a week, or if it’s going to be parked more than a week. It will quickly tell you if your battery is OK or if it needs to be replaced.Ĭar batteries only last so long, usually about 5-8 years, but slow starting doesn’t mean yours is going. There’s only one way to answer the question, “Is it my battery, or something else” when your car won’t start: Hook up the best car battery tester and get a readout of what’s going on. ![]() The story of Condemned is.weird, to put it bluntly. Really, the whole movement system was a huge downer in regards to my enjoyment, and combined with all the other little grains of salt I had to put up with, it quite spoiled the whole game, to the point where I sometimes quit out of frustration or boredom rather than fear, which is a shame, because Condemned has the capacity to be a very frightening game. If I can't hop over a table, it it just makes it feel even more like I'm in a video game and less like a cop wading through a city full of psychos like the game aims to portray. The game also does not feature a jumping or crouching mechanic, which might be passed off as a restriction of the game's design, were it not for the fact that the lack of such abilities is a huge damper on immersion, which is what the goal of slower pacing should be. I feel if the developers had made players just a tiny bit faster, or given them some means of improving the sprint mechanic, things would've been less of a chore. All of these, piled on top of a plodding movement speed that should help engender caution, but somehow just feels like the players is wearing lead overshoes, not to mention a sprint bar that feels painfully small and slow to recharge during basic exploration. The inability to skip cutscenes being trapped in rooms by invisible walls while phone conversations provide exposition the small spaces provided by the environment for combat that often lead to being trapped and swarmed by enemies the long, boring back-tracking sessions. It's hard to put a finger on just what makes the game so frustrating and exhausting but there are numerous small things. However, while I recognize the design choice, I do think it could've been handled better. Fights are relatively few and far between, with ambiance and atmosphere getting the maximum chance to sink in. I feel that on some level the reliance on melee was part of a decision to slow down the pace of the game. It can also be excessively frustrating to get used to. The combat is brutal and hectic, requiring much practice to master. If you get swarmed (and you will), you can fall back on your taser, which has infinite ammunition, but needs to recharge between uses, rendering it very timing-sensitive in terms of usefulness. The player can also kick enemies if they manage to knock them down, or perform scripted finishing moves for extra style if they''ve scored a disarming blow. All the weapons are rated on their swing speed, blocking power, reach and damage. Heavier weapons, such as fire axes and crowbars, serve a dual purpose, granting the player the ability to access sealed or hidden areas and items. In Condemned, many things can be weapons: a board with some bolts in it, an electrical conduit pulled from a nearby wall. A heavy emphasis is placed on melee combat, where reflexes and the ability to recognize physical cues are key to survival. Firearms exist, but are limited to the number of rounds they contain when picked up. Criminal Origins is played in the first-person, and its combat system is more beat-em-up than shoot-em-up. |
